Curriculum

We value the partnership that is created between the educator, child, and family in creating positive learning environments for both the child and families. We believe in the practice of the Circle of Security, where children and educators establish a secure, respectful relationship between all parties in the learning environment. Research has shown, when children feel safe and secure their learning abilities are strengthened and this practice is a core value of our learning curriculum that is provided.

Educators take on several roles throughout their teaching experiences, such as being a co-learner, as they exchange ideas, knowledge and learning skills between the child and their families.

We provide the children with ongoing opportunities for active learning through play, we encourage them to explore, create, investigate, observe, experiment, make choices and problem solve by engaging in play experiences in the indoor and outdoor environments. This assists with preparing children for the transition to school, by fostering the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical skills that are needed to be an effective member of the school community.

Our service is committed to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Fundamental to this framework is a view of children’s lives as characterised by Belonging, Being and Becoming.

The Framework conveys the highest expectations for all children’s learning from birth through to the transition to school. It communicates these expectations through the following outcomes:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • Children relate to and contribute to their world.
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Children are confident and involved learners.
  • Children are effective communicators.

Underpinning the framework are five principles:

  • Secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships.
  • Partnerships.
  • High expectations and equity.
  • Respect for diversity.
  • Ongoing learning and reflective practice.

Our service utilises the digital platform called Storypark to document the children’s learning and development.
